Spectrum emphasizes that there's only one way to cancel your TV service. Here's a step-by-step guide to help make cancellation a breeze.

Spectrum TV has an easy cancellation process. This guide tackles how to cancel and the process you have to take (before and after) to ensure you won't need to pay any penalties.

If you're not sure you want to cancel, you'll also find alternatives to canceling. So make sure to check if your reason to cancel is on the list.

What's your main reason for wanting to cancel Spectrum TV?

Spectrum TV Cancellation Process

The only way you can cancel your Spectrum TV service is by calling Spectrum at (833) 267-6094. Unfortunately, you can't cancel without speaking to an agent.

Afterward, you must return your equipment immediately. Otherwise, you'll be charged an unreturned equipment fee until you return the equipment.

Will I lose my other Spectrum services when I cancel one?
No, you won't. Each service is independent of the others. The only time a service would be affected is if you initially bundled it with another service and are now canceling one of the bundled services.

How To Return Spectrum Equipment

Spectrum has a lot of ways you can send back your equipment:

  • UPS Return
Bring your equipment to any UPS location. Tell the UPS employee that you are returning Spectrum equipment. They'll package and ship it out for you.

  • U.S. Postal Service Return
Wrap your equipment with the packaging included with the shipping box. Place the prepaid return label over the original shipping label. Bring it to any U.S. Postal service. They'll ship it for free.

  • Home shipment return kit
Request a home shipment return kit by calling Spectrum at (833) 267-6094. You'll receive a box with a return label and some bubble wrap. Hand it to FedEx or a drop-off box after packing.

  • Spectrum store drop-off
Go directly to a Spectrum store and return your equipment.

  • Equipment Pickup
If you have a disability, you can have your equipment picked up by a Spectrum technician. To find out if you're eligible and to request pick up, call (833) 267-6094.

Can I Cancel Spectrum TV Anytime?

Spectrum doesn't require a minimum term contract, so you can cancel your service at any time without paying penalties or fees.

But don't forget to return your equipment. Otherwise, you'll be forced to pay an unreturned equipment fee.

Easiest way to cancel spectrum service?
Spectrum only has one cancellation method, which is by calling Spectrum and talking to an agent.

Spectrum TV Customer Reviews

Spectrum is praised for its swift customer service and excellent product quality.

Check out what William has to say:

"I have the full package, TV, Internet, phone and DVR. The service is in my opinion, is very good and borderline outstanding. Going into my third year with Spectrum I have had very few problems and those were addressed by their customer service team in a timely manner. The high speed internet is very reliable with speeds close to advertised. I have had cable and satellite in the past including both Dish and Direct and after moving to Spectrum I find it to be far superior in terms of quality and programing and the internet is far above any other supplier." (From ConsumerAffairs)

Their customers often complain about having to overpay for services that they didn't order and unilateral price raises.

Here's what Christopher has to say:

"After having internet and cable bundled for over 5 years the price almost doubled in that time... after selling my property and returning their equipment and terminating service I got a phone call a few weeks later telling me I owed them over $350 dollars for two missed payments... They never terminated my service and made it very difficult to do so when I called to challenge the charges... They won't let you terminate service in person and purposefully. Make it hard on you to terminate serviceā€¦" (From ConsumerAffairs)

Alternatives to canceling

Here are some reasons you may want to cancel your service as well as some alternatives to canceling:

  • You are moving to another place
Spectrum lets you move your services to a new location. Call (855) 363-4902 before you move. If they're available at your new address, they'll help you transfer.

  • You won't be using it for some time
If you have a vacation house that you go back and forth from regularly, you can put your account on seasonal status.

You'll have your service and just pay a low fee. Call Spectrum at (833) 267-6094 to inquire.

  • Bad service/unsatisfied with service
If you're experiencing issues, you can troubleshoot instead. Call (833) 267-6094 and tell them what's wrong.

You can also visit their troubleshooting page, find your problem, and follow the instructions.

  • Downgrade or upgrade
If you want another plan or realize you don't need everything in your current plan, you can upgrade or downgrade. Just log in to your Spectrum account and find the option on your account page.

How long does it take to cancel Spectrum to cancel service?
Once you make the call, Spectrum should cancel your service during that call (unless the agent you're talking to says otherwise).

Spectrum TV Alternatives

If you're looking to get another TV service after canceling, here are some alternative options:

  • Xfinity TV
Xfinity and Spectrum offer a wide range of add-ons, from sports and international to premium channels. If you like soap operas, both offer tons of Spanish channels.

However, Xfinity offers over 25 more channels than Spectrum. Xfinity has slightly cheaper prices too. And unlike Spectrum, each plan comes with free Cloud DVR.

  • Paramount+
Both Spectrum and Paramount offer a ton of on-demand shows and movies.

But if you're more interested in watching movies and shows rather than live TV, check out Paramount+. It only offers 20+ live TV channels but offers access to new shows and movies as well as Paramount originals. Plus, you'll only spend a fraction of the cost.

  • Hulu
Hulu and Spectrum both offer live TV and on-demand show options at a similar price range. Hulu also offers plans without live TV and is much cheaper than Spectrum.

Bottom Line

Spectrum only offers one way to cancel: call them and talk to an agent at (833) 267-6094. Then don't forget to return your equipment.

But before you cancel, see if there are other ways to resolve your concern without actually having to cancel. Otherwise, check out better providers that fit your needs.
