Frontier has some of the most affordable plans. But how are its reliability and the customer service? Read on to find out.

Affordable internet is tough to find. Even when you do, the speeds are often slow, making streaming, gaming, and even basic browsing a hassle.

Frontier could be the solution you need. It offers fiber-optic internet at low prices, giving you both affordability and fast speeds.

But, if you work from home and need a consistent connection for video calls or other tasks, there are more reliable internet providers available.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Affordable plans
  • Offers fiber optic
  • No data caps
  • No term contract

Cons

Customer Reviews

Customers frequently complain about frequent outages, poor reliability, and random fees on the bill.

Here's what Loretta has to say:

"We've had service with Frontier for many years. I work from home and need the internet. We have been without internet for 7 days. Our appt. was for today, Monday. No one showed up because they sent a text saying we were up and running. That the outage was resolved. We never had an outage and no one listened. We talked to 3 different ladies during this wait to explain we had no outage. If anyone has technical issues no one really comes to your house even if they tell you that. We waited 8 hours to find out they rescheduled our appt. another 3 days. They text to communicate with you. I do not recommend Frontier for anyone." (From ConsumerAffairs)

But there are good reviews regarding certain staff members handling issues well and affordable prices.

Check out what Alexander says:

"I'm surprised to see all the 1-star reviews. I was previously using Comcast/Xfinity but got tired of getting nickel and dimed by Comcast. They were charging me rent just to use their router. Finally I switched to Frontier FIOS and couldn't be happier. The price is half what Xfinity was charging and the upload speed is WAY faster. The installation only took about 15 minutes and the tech was really nice. Very professional all-around. Congrats, you now have a customer for many years to come, thank you!" (From ConsumerAffairs)

How Frontier Compares

Frontier vs Spectrum

FrontierSpectrum
SpeedUp to 7 GbpsUp to 1 Gbps
Data offeredNo data capNo data cap
Plans offeredstarts at $29.99 for 12 monthsstarts at $50 for 12 months

Frontier offers significantly lower prices compared to Spectrum, with rates nearly half of what Spectrum charges. Additionally, Frontier provides fiber optic services, unlike Spectrum.

However, if you prioritize reliability over cost, Spectrum is an excellent choice. Just note that Spectrum is known for its reliability but is notorious for high prices.

Frontier vs Optimum

FrontierOptimum
SpeedUp to 7 GbpsUp to 8 Gbps
Data offeredNo data capNo data cap
Plans offeredstarts at $29.99 for 12 monthsstarts at $40/mo

Both Optimum and Frontier are known for affordable rates, but Frontier generally offers cheaper options.

That said, Optimum provides a wider range of plans and includes fiber optic choices too. In terms of reliability, Optimum tends to receive slightly better reviews compared to Frontier.

Bottom Line

Frontier offers some of the most affordable plans in the market, even beating out many other providers. It also provides fiber optic internet with speeds up to 7 Gbps, surpassing many competitors.

The only problem is that there are frequent complaints regarding the reliability and customer service.

If budget-friendly internet is your priority, Frontier is an excellent choice. But if you're willing to spend more for reliability, there may be better options available.
