What Is a $600 Chase Bonus?

Chase may offer $600 (sometimes more) in stackable bonuses if you open both a Chase Total Checking® and Chase Savings℠ account simultaneously.

However, this special checking & savings promo is usually available only for a limited period. And the bonus amount may not always be $600. Depending on the promo, it could be higher or lower.

To get the entire bonus amount, you'll be required to fulfill qualifying activities relative to each account (see below).

How Can I Get $600 from Chase?

Although deals may change from time to time, here's how you typically earn $600 or more in stackable bonuses from Chase.

You must be a new Chase customer
Checking offer is not available to existing Chase checking customers. Savings offer is not available to existing Chase savings customers.

If you previously closed a similar Chase account, you may still qualify if more than 90 days have passed and you haven't claimed an account-opening related bonus in the last 2 years.

Enter the bonus code
If you apply online through the promo link, the bonus code will be applied automatically. Or you can request to get your bonus code via email if you plan to open the accounts in-branch.

Open both accounts
You must open the checking and savings account at the same time, in order to get bonuses from both accounts plus the extra bonus.

If you wish to pursue just one of the bank accounts within a bonus package, you can still be eligible for a portion of the cash bonus specific to that account.

Set up a direct deposit
For the checking offer, you must receive a direct deposit to the account within a specific time frame (usually within 90 days of coupon enrollment).

Deposit a minimum amount
For the savings offer, you're required to deposit a certain amount within a given period, and keep it there for several months (usually 90 days from coupon enrollment).

Receive the bonus individually
You can expect your respective bonuses within 15 days of fulfilling requirements of each account in the bonus package.

To receive the extra bonus, you must fulfill requirements for both accounts. It will be deposited within 15 days of doing so.

Is Chase Really a Good Bank?

As the largest commercial bank in the US,[1] Chase is a good bank if you're looking for accessibility and full range of services. It boasts a huge network of over 4,700 branches[2] and excellent online and mobile banking.

It has a variety of checking accounts, including accounts that not all banks offer (such as second chance checking, checking for kids, and private banking).

However, their savings products may not offer the best rates to grow your funds. And like most traditional banks, you can expect more banking fees.

About Chase Total Checking®

Chase Total Checking® is a popular bare-bones checking account that doesn't require an opening deposit.

If you do not meet the requirements to waive the monthly fee, you will be charged $12 each month.

$12 or $0 with one of the following, each monthly statement period:
  • Electronic deposits made into this account totaling $500 or more, such as payments from payroll providers or government benefit providers, by using (i) the ACH network, (ii) the Real Time Payment or FedNow℠ network, (iii) third party services that facilitate payments to your debit card using the Visa® or Mastercard® network,
  • OR a balance at the beginning of each day of $1,500 or more in this account,
  • OR an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account and linked qualifying Chase checking, savings, and other balances.

Other notable features include:

  • Access to 15,000+ Chase ATMs
  • Free bill pay service
  • Mobile check deposits by simply snapping a picture
  • Send and receive money with Zelle®
  • Account alerts via text, email, or push notifications when there is a charge, refund, or transaction

About Chase Savings℠

This is Chase's basic savings account, which has minimal interest and not much else.

Nevertheless, it's pretty easy to waive the $5 monthly service fee. You just need a $300 daily balance or automatic transfer of at least $25 every month from a linked Chase checking account. Other options to avoid this fee are also available.

Is a $600 Chase Bonus Worth It?

A Chase promotion where you can claim up to $600 is worth considering for a few reasons. First, the types of accounts required for you to open are often ones you'll need to have anyway.

The checking bonus usually has very easy requirements to get. And if you have the minimum deposit to earn the savings bonus, joining this promo makes sense. After all, $600 is pretty good extra money.

Plus, the bank accounts you must open are relatively easy to maintain if you wish to keep them after receiving your bonus.

FAQs

What is the Chase bonus?
Here is a list of the bonuses up for grabs at Chase.

How many Chase bonuses can I get?
You can claim more than one bonus deal from multiple Chase accounts if it's a special stackable bonus offer.

If you previously had a Chase account before, you can receive only one new checking and one new savings account-opening related bonus every 2 years.

Are Chase bank bonuses taxable?
Yes, cash bonuses claimed from Chase, let alone any bank, is considered income. Thus, they are subject to taxes. Chase will usually send you a Form 1099-INT by January 31 of each new year.[3]

Bottom Line

A big Chase bonus will usually require you to open a Chase Total Checking® and Chase Savings℠ account at the same time. And you must fulfill the requirements of both accounts to get the bonus.

This kind of bonus doesn't come around very often. So if you see it, seize the opportunity if you can.
