Best Ways to Watch Filipino Channels in USA
These are the best ways of watching Filipino channels online. Read on to find out which providers offer this service.
DISH TV
DISH TV is a popular satellite TV provider in the US. While satellite TV isn't exactly cutting the cable, you can still watch DISH's content online - through their DISH Anywhere app.
The DISH Anywhere app allows you to stream DISH's content to your tablet, smartphone, laptop or desktop computer. You can even watch recorded programs from your DVR.
The mobile app is free for DISH subscribers, so you won't have to pay a thing.
For Filipino channels, DISH does offer a Filipino TV package under their International Packages. It's called the Filipino: GMA Pinoy, and it has four channels. The channels are:
- DWLS (radio channel)
- GMA Pinoy TV (GMAP)
- GMA Life TV (GMAL)
- DZBB (radio channel)
The catch? You'll need to get a base English package before you can get the Filipino channels add-on.
Overall, the channel selection isn't much, but if you just want to watch a few Filipino shows, it's not bad. One of the good perks of DISH is that they have an excellent DVR unit, the Hopper 3. It records 16 programs at the same time and has up to 500 hours of HD recording. You could record your favorite Filipino shows and re-watch them online.

DIRECTV
Another popular satellite TV provider is DIRECTV. Like DISH, DIRECTV also has its own "watch anywhere" app. The app allows you to stream shows to most smart devices, and even download recordings from your DVR to watch later. It's also free for all DIRECTV subscribers.
DIRECTV also offers Filipino channels as an add-on. This means you'll have to get one of their base English packages first.
There are a few Filipino packages. The PinoyDirect is the most basic package - it has The Filipino Channel (TFC), GMA Pinoy TV and MYX.
The GMA Pinoy TV channel has shows produced by the GMA Network and its flagship station in the Philippines.
Next is the TFCDirect channel. Instead of the GMA Pinoy TV, you'll get six other channels, which are:
- ABS-CBN News Channel
- Cinema One Global
- ABS-CBN Sports + Action
- INCTV
- Lifestyle Network
You'll also receive the MOR 101.9 and DZMM radio channels.
The final Filipino package is the FilipinoDirect package. This combines the previous two packages together. You'll have the full selection of channels from both TFCDirect and PinoyDirect. You'll also get extra channels such as the GMA Life TV channel and the Kapatid TV channel.
For regular TV, DIRECTV offers more than 200+ HD channels, and they also have a great Genie HD DVR. It records five streams at once and stores up to 200 HD hours.
If you're serious about Filipino channels, DIRECTV offers a bigger selection compared to DISH. If Pinoy channels are all you care about, then DIRECTV would be the better choice.

ONLINE TV PROVIDERS
If you truly want to cut the cord, there are online TV providers too. Here are some providers you may want to consider.
THE FILIPINO CHANNEL (TFC.TV)
The Filipino Channel (TFC) is an online TV provider based in California. It's an on-demand service, much like Netflix. They do have a few "live" channels, although it runs on a broadcast schedule.
TFC offers three different packages for users:
Their Basic package is free, but gives users limited access. They can only watch the latest three episodes of most of TFC's TV serials (also known as teleserye). You can't binge-watch or catch up on whole seasons.
Basic users also won't have access to the Favourite Drama Classics Teleseryes. These include shows like:
- Be Careful with My Heart
- Pangako sa 'yo
- Forevermore
- Princess and I
- On the Wings of Love
You also won't be able to watch programs like sports, specials, travel & lifestyle and more.
Lite users have better access to TFC's library, but still not everything. There's no three-episode limit, which means they can watch all previous episodes of a show. However, they also won't have access to other specialty programming like news, sports, travel & lifestyle, and others.
The Premium package lets you have access to TFC's entire library. This includes over 400 Filipino movies.
Since it's a streaming service, you can watch it from pretty much any browser or smart device. They also have an app, which is available from the Apple App Store and the Android Play Store.
If you're serious about Pinoy shows and movies, TFC might be the best choice for you. It has an extensive library of content from the Philippines and the ABS-CBN network.
AMAZON PRIME
If you're looking for Filipino movies, you can also find them on Amazon. Simply search for a movie title to see if it's available. You can rent the movie or purchase it for repeated viewings. If you buy it, the movie will be added to your video library, and you can stream it anytime.
Alternatively, you could also purchase an Amazon Prime membership. This lets you watch certain Filipino movies for free, until your membership expires. You can browse to see which movies/shows are offered for free with Amazon Prime before subscribing.
You can stream the Amazon Video on almost every smart device. This includes smart TVs, set-top boxes, gaming consoles, smartphones, tablets, as well as on your PC and laptop.
BOTTOM LINE
When it comes to Pinoy shows and movies, there aren't plenty of choices. If you'd like a few Pinoy content along with regular English programs, then it's best to go with DISH. For the more serious viewer, DIRECTV offers more Filipino shows and movies than DISH.
If you only care about Filipino content and want to cut the cord, TFC is the only real choice. It offers a huge library for a small monthly subscription. You can install the app on most smart devices and cancel your subscription anytime.
